UK Coffee Week: 24 Coffee Hacks

amomentwithfranca · 15 April 2016 · 52 Comments

I’ve mentioned previously about how i’ve become quite a coffee lover in the last few years. As part of my blog I actually got to go to a Nespresso hosted event where I got to learn a lot about coffee. Thanks to the guys over at myvouchercodes.co.uk, I found out a couple of days ago that this week (April 11th – 17th) is actually UK coffee week, something which I was not previously aware existed.

UK Coffee Week 24 Coffee Hacks
UK Coffee Week is a fundraising initiative supporting Project Waterfall. UK Coffee Week begun in 2011 and since has raised over £325,000 to bring clean and safe drinking water to the poorest coffee growing communities over the world. Money is raised through fundraising schemes created by partner coffee shops. To find out more and to sponsor UK Coffee Week should you wish, follow this link.

To celebrate UK Coffee Week, MyVoucherCodes have shared with me their 24 Coffee Hacks infographic that you can see below. These are coffee hacks that you are unlikely to have come across before – I certainly wasn’t aware of these uses!

Throughout the week MyVoucherCodes will be regularly giving their users Starbucks vouchers via Facebook, so head over there if your partial to a Starbucks coffee like me!

MyVoucherCodes have also shared with me information about a study they have conducted into whether fair trade is the best system to pay coffee farmers in the developing world. The article compares and contrasts Fairtrade with direct trade. It includes comment from professor of economics at the University of San Francisco, Bruce Wydick and Will Corby, Head of Coffee for UK Direct Trade specialist coffee supplier, Pact.

This made me laugh so much! (Although the geek in me would like to point out that coffee actually can CAUSE headaches as opposed to curing them…!) Thx for sharing, was a fun read! #KCACOLS

Hmm, your post has me curious if we have anything similar to UK Coffee Week here in America. I would hope so, because I would love to make sure I purchase more coffee during this time! I had absolutely no idea coffee had so many beauty uses, maybe I should start storing it in the bathroom. Thanks so much for sharing! <3 #KCACOLS

I love my coffee – an essential start to any morning! I use the waste grinds as a fertiliser – perfect for trying to keep slugs away too, as apparently they don’t like the taste. Didn’t know about coffee week – I’ll have to have a cup in celebration! #KCACOLS

Ah the wonderful world of coffee (I am on my second cup already…) I had no idea it had quite so many uses, although I am unconvinced about bathing the Sausage dogs in it, although it would improve the way they smell. Also didn’t know it was the second most traded item in the world – so lots of beans of knowledge gained (sorry that was a rubbish joke) #KCAKOLS

Wow, coffee has so many uses, and there was me thinking it was only for drinking and baking. I like the idea that it speeds up pain killers, I will keep that in mine. It makes sense actually because often you see painkillers advertised as ‘with caffeine’.
The dry shampoo idea is a bit strange, not sure how that would work on my blonde hair? Really interesting post.

I have been trying to keep eating a good breakfast every morning to help me with my low iron! .Most days I have branflakes and sometimes weetabix but Fridays to Sundays, I make a little effort and prepare overnight oats. I love them! They are so tasty and leave me satisfy for hours which means not craving for snacks until lunch time! ✨Teacher’s Strike Day✨.Happy hump day! So ✨Teacher’s Strike Day✨.Happy hump day! So we have our first teacher’s strike day today which means no school and learning from home..Bella is doing her school work via Google classroom so she will follow her normal school day that way and Sienna doesn’t have a structured day from school today so she should have a day off but we have agreed for her to do some work too, so she will be reading, practicing for her spelling test and doing some maths. This way we can all have a productive day 😉, well hopefully! 😬. Have you been affected by the strike today? ✨Happy Friday✨.Did you have a good week? Unf ✨Happy Friday✨.Did you have a good week? Unfortunately, it wasn’t that good for us because the girls have been under the weather. Bella started first with a sore throat and high fever for a few days and then when Bella got better, Sienna started! She got a horrible cough but no temperature. Her cough was that bad that she couldn’t sleep very well for a couple of nights. They are both much better now and back to school.. The weather hasn’t helped either. It has been so cold lately! I literally feel frozen all the time. Thankfully it is looking better atm as the temperatures are starting to rise. I decided to get my flu vaccine, so I hope it protects me from all these viruses that are going around! Have you had the flu vaccine too? .On another note, I went yesterday to a parents meeting about GCSE options for Bella. I can’t believe she needs to think about it already ahead of Year 9. The time really goes fast. Are your kids dealing with GCSEs too?.📸 Sharing this beautiful bouquet of flowers from @freddiesflowers to brighten up our day.#flowerarrangement #flowerdelivery #bouquetofflowers #flowersmakemehappy #loveflowers #flowersoftheday #flowersoftheweek #flowerlover #freshflowers #flowerobsession #bunchofflowers #foreverflowers #flowersofinstagram #homesweethome
