Our Pines and Needles Christmas Tree

amomentwithfranca · 1 December 2021 · 20 Comments

It has become a family tradition for us to pick our Christmas tree together every year from Pines and Needles around the end of November. I guess due to the pandemic we got our tree quite early last year (the 3rd weekend of November) and we kind of enjoyed it, so we decided to do the same this year. I think it’s nice nowadays to start the Christmas spirit early.

Our Pines and Needles Christmas Tree

We love having a real tree at home. I don’t know why but it really feels even more magical. This will be our 7th year having a real Christmas tree and the 6th time we have had it from Pines and Needles. This tells you how much we love their trees.

About Pines and Needles

Pines and Needles, founded by brothers Josh and Sam Lyle back in 1995, are a British brand with Scottish Heritage. They are the Premier Christmas Tree Growers and Retailers in London and the South of England.

Despite the option of picking up your tree personally at one of their pop up stores, they can also deliver to your door, install, decorate and even take away and recycle helping to take the stress out of Christmas!

Pines and Needles Nordmann Fir

Every year we choose a Nordmann Fir Christmas tree because they are the best when you think about needles. This type of tree is fantastic because its needles will stay attached throughout the festive season. And trust me when I say they will stay attached. There is hardly any mess with this type of tree, I love it!

They come in different sizes from 3ft to 12ft. We have been choosing a 4ft tree every year but this year we decided to go for a taller tree, especially because Bella is getting taller so a 4ft was starting to be quite short for her. We went for a couple of sizes up and decided that a 6ft Nordmann Fir would be a better size for our home.

Picking our Christmas Tree at Pines and Needless Maida Vale

We decided to go to the same pop-up store in Maida Vale that we have visited previously. It is very close to us, so very convenient.

When we arrived, we saw their little wooden cottage outside where they also had Christmas decorations. We were nicely greeted by one of their staff who was dressed up with the Pines and Needles uniform which consists of a Scottish kilt, a jumper and a Christmas hat. It is really festive!

We were not sure if the new size would fit in our car so we were thinking of booking a delivery slot but we wanted to try it first, so they helped us to bring it to the car and guess what? It fitted! So we were able to put it in the car and bring it home straight away! We were all so pleased with that!

Decorating our 6ft Pines and Needles Nordmann Fir Christmas Tree

Nick brought the Christmas tree to the living room and put the tree in the base stand that was inside the wicker basket style tree ring that we got last year from Amazon. When it was all in place and we were happy with it, he put water in the base to keep it healthy.

We were so pleased to see that the size of the tree was perfect for the space. We were worried as it was 2 sizes bigger than last year but because it was just taller and not bushier it fitted very well.

We didn’t buy new decorations this year because we were pleased with the ones we already have. We put white lights and then gold, silver with white decorations. I am happy with a classic look rather than a busy look which happens when you put too many decorations.

The girls enjoyed decorating the tree and Sienna put the star this year! We managed to get it done within a Sunday afternoon. I am so happy that it is now done and we can enjoy our gorgeous Pines and Needles Christmas tree for the whole of December. We are now really looking forward to Christmas!

Look how lovely the tree looks, I am really pleased with it. We can highly recommend you to get your trees from Pines and Needles.  If you would like to buy a real Christmas Tree, you can order from them online or you could check their pop-up store’s list.

I have also done some stories on my Instagram. I have saved them under the Pines & Needles Highlight.

We moved into a new property in the spring and it’s the first year for a long time that we have the room for a real tree, I love the 8 foot Norland spruce that has pride of place in the living room#kcacols@-karendennis

What a fun tradition. We always put up our tree the day after Thanksgiving (United States). We can’t have live though because our oldest is terribly allergic. We have two trees to spread out our ornaments too…each year, the kids get one from us and my parents so that’s 8 new ornaments EVERY year!

Looks great. We usually do our tree the first weekend of December. Thanksgiving is at the end of Nov here in the States and I refuse to start Christmas until the last of the leftovers are gone. This year we went pretty big and its scraping the ceiling but we love it #KCACOLS
